What is it? A non-foaming gel cleanser
What does/should it do? A good option for second/morning cleanse, especially if you have oiler and/or acne-prone skin.
Repurchase? Yes, but not for me.
Alpha-H’s Triple Action Cleanser came into my life because I have a teenager who is starting to spot – and worse, starting to care about it. Because it’s non-foaming, it feels like a cream cleanser would, but in gel form: you smoosh it about your face a bit and wipe it off with a wet face cloth. I mean, really, that’s how all cleansers work.
I don’t love the Triple Action Cleanser as much as I love the Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser, which is a cream, and that’s because I like the moisturising effect of cream cleansers on my older skin. A gel cleanser is also designed for an oiler skin than mine: cucumber to calm down inflammation, thyme as an antibacterial, and aloe vera as a hydrator. Are any of these doing anything? *shrug* Do I look forward to washing my face with it first thing in the morning? Absolutely. The best way to feel alive.
I have usually had two coffees before I’ve jumped in the shower, which is actually the best way to feel alive.
It’s not as hydrating as I need, but it’s absolutely not drying either – which is good! You don’t want to dry out even an oily face. It cleans my face, which is what I want from a cleanser. I can make up the hydration difference with serums and moisturisers. On the other hand, it’s perfect for Kidling. I can see the difference in her using it (and since she won’t use any other face ‘goo’, the cleanser is the only change), and I will re-buy it for her when this one runs out.
Which won’t be until next year. Between the two of us, it took Kidling and I the most part of a year to get through a 500ml of the Balancing Cleanser. I bought the same size again in the gel, because it was excellent value for the size, especially when compared to something lower in price but also smaller in size. Of course, that was exclusive to Adore Beauty and now discontinued, and I can only hope they’re moving their exclusivity elsewhere or, even better, simply repackaging.
To futher wax lyrical about a product you can no longer buy, I also love that the 500ml comes in a pump bottle. I keep it in the shower for our morning cleanse, which is where the pump-action of the larger bottle particularly shines: there is nothing worse than faffing about dropping product lids on the floor when you’ve a handful of face goo. You know that, you’ve been there. The gel texture would make a great shave lotion if you’re someone who shaves their face.
The ingredients list ‘parfum (fragrance)’, but I can’t detect any scent to it, which I particularly love. I am not a fan of fragranced face products. I don’t know how brilliant it is as a first cleanse/makeup remover because I have different tools for that job, but there is nothing stopping you using it over your eyes. It’s just an unfussy, getting-the-job-done product, and I am here for it.
